#5 Pirate Adventure Cruises
There are 3 different kids-only pirate cruises for kids ages 4-12 that sail in pirate ships around the resort marinas. They take place every day between 9:30am and 11:30am and cost between $39 and $49. Choose from Disney’s Pirate Adventure sailing from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Islands of the Caribbean sailing from Barefoot Bay, and the Albatross Treasure Cruise sailing from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. You can book on the Disney website or call 407-939-7529 (Disney) for reservations and more information.
Bonus: Have a child that absolutely loves pirates? Book the pirate themed rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort or participate in Captain Jack Sparrows Pirate Tutorial in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom!
#4 The Knight Package at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is famous for turning girls into their favorite princesses complete with an up-do, make-up and dress but did you know that boys can get the royal treatment too? It’s called the Knight Package and it comes with a stylish hairdo with hair gel and confetti, a sword and a shield. The experience costs $20 and is located at the Disney Springs and Magic Kingdom locations. Call in advance for reservations at 407-WDW-STYLE (407-939-7895).
Sign up for a scavenger hunt and add some fun to your day of rides! There’s Phineas and Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at Epcot that leads young sleuths to find clues (sent by text) around the countries of the World Showcase. There’s the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom which is an interactive scavenger hunt where adventurers must thwart forces of evil by using spell cards and opening magical portals. Then there’s the opportunity to become a Wilderness Explorer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and go on fact finding challenges during self-guided activities around the park. This program is included in the price of admission.
#2 Fort Wilderness Archery Experience
Kids ages 7 and up can learn how to hold and fire a compound bow at the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. You do not have to be a resort guest to participate in this 90-minute program. The cost is $45 and reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling Disney at (407) 939-7529. This is a popular program so you might want to reserve as soon as possible to participate.
There are many Star Wars activities and attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios including Star Tours, Star Wars Stage Shows, the March of the Rebellion, Launch Bay where you can meet Kylo Ren and Chewbacca, and themed fireworks shows. The most popular attraction is the Jedi Training where boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 12 can suit up and learn the ways of the force. They will train with lightsabers to confront Darth Vader and dual with the Seventh Sister Inquisitor. There are several time slots available throughout the day but due to its popularity, I recommend registering first thing in the morning. Register at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost located between the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and the 50's Prime Time Café. There is no additional cost for Jedi Training.
Not just an obsessed theme park fan, I am also a professional theme park private guide and I own Orlando for Families, a vacation services company. I am a graduate of the College of Disney Knowledge, and also a certified specialist by Universal Orlando Resorts. I hold specialist certificates from Visit Orlando and Visit Florida as well.
I'm a busy professional and mom of two who enjoys visiting Walt Disney World several times a week, staying at theme park resorts (and off-site hotels) several times a month and dining in the parks and around Orlando every day.
I tell it like it is and hopefully my experiences, whether good or bad, will help guide you in the right direction on your next vacation to Orlando!
